Greenpeace Wins Crypto-Vote to Receive Digital Currency Donations
Greenpeace, the non-governmental environmental organization, is on its way to receiving donations in a new digital currency based on the same blockchain technology which fuels Bitcoin.
On Saturday, December 3, the M.A. Blockchain, a decentralized public welfare system model based on the tech behind bitcoin, was introduced in Montreal, Canada. The Mind Asset Global Development Foundation (MAGDF or “the Foundation”) is working towards the development of its blockchain tech, M.A.
Blockchain. MAGDF’s Secretary General, Steven Bradley, said in a speech that “resolving the issue of trust through technical means” is one of the big visions for blockchain technology. M.A. blockchain seeks to apply the technology underlying the digital currency Bitcoin to public welfare programs. A decentralized global public welfare system could be an open, transparent and irreversible alternative to the status quo.
Mr. Bradley announced Saturday the results of an M.A. Blockchain initiative, wherein participants voted on a public service organization to receive a series of donations in different forms, including M.A Blockchain’s digital money. Greenpeace received 54,326,163 votes (24.46% of the overall votes).
The M.A Blockchain is a part of The Mind Asset Global Development Foundation’s overall MindAsset platform.
According to the nonprofit’s official website, “Using Mind Bank will be the primary sup- port for Mind Asset. You could withdraw MG to Mind Bank and lock it in a blockchain, or you could trade, accept payment and purchase commodities by MG. It will help the improvement and development of Mind Bank, and do a favor to achieve a faster popularization and circulation for MG.” From the blockchain’s white paper.
Based on the innovation of Blockchain technology, Mind Asset, with the ultimate mission of establishing the first global public-welfare system of decentralization in the human history, combines M.A Blockchain with the mechanism of public-welfare voting and donation of decentralization, and solves the problem of trust through technical means, thus promoting the global popularization and participation of public-welfare causes and promoting the convention system of great love of human society to be realized in the future.
There are some ideas in Mind Asset’s paper not so oft mentioned in other blockchain white papers, like Love.

There was not much price movement upon the announce for the native token, MindGene (MG) as the digital currency remains far from its high of more than $2. At press, MindGene is trading for pennies.
Whether the cryptocurrency community will be convinced and bite on the blockchain based public welfare model has yet to be seen, but Bitcoin enthusiasts and their ilk often celebrate their desire to “change the world” for the better. (Or go “to the moon’).
