The state motto of New Hampshire is “Live Free or Die”. In January 1776, it became the first of the British North American colonies to establish a government independent of Great Britain’s authority. So is it any wonder that it may indeed be the most Bitcoin-friendly place in the United States?
The new film “101 Reasons: Liberty Lives in New Hampshire” shows what life in New Hampshire is all about. Also, how the revolutionary technology and currency of Bitcoin fit into its public mindset so perfectly.
New Hampshire Accepts Bitcoin
The fact that New Hampshire has the highest disposable income of any state in the union, as well as the highest median income of any state at over $71k certainly doesn’t hurt their ability to adopt Bitcoin quickly and easily. People who are highly educated and with a high income are the some of the biggest users of Bitcoin. Here at CCN, we have also chronicled the state-wide leadership of New Hampshire in the adoption of Bitcoin.
“Bitcoin are used quite significantly here in New Hampshire, and that allows us to create a “Network effect,” where the more people use digital currencies, the more useful they become. If you want to have the appropriate amount of voice in this world that you should be allotted, you can’t be using a currency that siphons off your worth, your wealth, to a centralized organization, whatever that centralized organization is. Usually today, most currencies siphon off that wealth to a central bank or government.” says Dr. Darren Tapp, University Mathematics Professor.

“101 Reasons: Liberty Lives in New Hampshire” is a documentary adaptation of the Free State Project’s list of 101 Reasons to Move to New Hampshire, which was written in 2002 by Michele Dumas. The FSP is an effort to move 20,000 liberty-minded people to a low populated state that has an existing pro-freedom culture. In 2003, participants of the FSP voted for the “Live Free or Die” state, New Hampshire, as its destination. For over 12 years, the 101 Reasons list has helped inspire thousands of activists and entrepreneurs to sign up for the FSP and continue New Hampshire’s reputation as a beacon for liberty.
“Dr. Ron Paul popularized the idea that legal tender laws are what the problem is,” recalls “Declare Your Independence” host Earnest Hancock. “There needs to be competition in everything, including the money. Once people got over that hurdle, and you show them a technical way that they could do it, and then they show you that there’s a market for it.”
Anyone looking for an environment that welcomes all digital currencies for products and services, not just Bitcoin, and embraces the entrepreneur would be wise to check out New Hampshire. Bitcoin cannot be uninvented, and the spirit exhibited by its residents shows that Bitcoin will be a force here for many years to come, without fear or reprisals from any centralized government within the state. How this flies long term in a nation becoming more and more tyrannous is anybody’s guess. It looks like Bitcoin, much like the people, will live free in New Hampshire.
