PopIsle, an advertising network connecting advertisers with online publishers, has announced in a press release  that it has expanded its payment options by paying publishers with bitcoin. As a result, the company claims it has received an increase in interest from publishers.

Ad networks usually use checks, PayPal and other means to transfer currencies. In certain countries, these transfers require a lot of time to process, leading to payment delays. The transfers also incur large transaction fees, so publishers receive reduced payment.

Options Vary By Country

In some countries, PayPal is not available, making publishers use third party payment processors like 2checkout that require even higher transaction fees. Hence, advertisers usually hire local advertising networks that leave the advertisers with limited ad network choices. It also makes advertising in international markets more complex.

By including bitcoin payments, PopIsle offers several benefits. The cryptocurrency, unlike PayPal, does not transfer through banks. Instead, Bitcoin transfers directly between buyer and seller, eliminating the processing fees.

Bitcoin Gives Global Access

Another advantage with the cryptocurrency is that it is globally accessible. Publishers can serve clients no matter where they are located. Publishers can access cash when their balance accumulates an equivalent of $2 USD or more, versus the $10 minimum using PayPal. A publisher can cash out bitcoin in any currency, saving them the risk of losing money through currency exchange rates.

By offering bitcoin, PopIsle began receiving more inquiries from publishers. Because of this, advertisers using PopIsle have access to thousands more mobile sites and websites to place ads. This provides more flexibility and targeting opportunities. Publishers have more advertisers to offer ad space to while advertisers can promote their content to a larger audience.

How Advertisers Benefit

The increase in the number of publishers also gives advertisers a wider range of niche markets to advertise to, which can lead to higher click-through rates.

Since accepting bitcoin, PopIsle claims it has experienced a high increase in both advertiser and publisher customers.
PopIsle believes bitcoin has the potential to change the online market, similar to how the Internet changed marketing and advertising.

“It is only a matter of time until more industries begin to introduce bitcoin, and with its growth in popularity, the number of opportunities and new business models will also begin to increase,” PopIsle noted in its press release.
